Every year Provo's annual Freedom Festival grows larger. The attendance at this years Freedom Festival Parade was estimated to exceed 300,000 people. The Staduim of Fire featured Grammy Award winning singer,Carrie Underwood and was MC'd by actor Lou Diamond Phillips. A highlight at the Stadium of Fire was the largest Boy Scout Eagle Court of Honor in the history of the BSA.
The official name of the event is 'America's Freedom Festival at Provo' and it's roots date back to the 1870's - long before Utah even became a State. Now it is one of the largest and most attended patriotic events in the United States. It is managed by a non-profit organization and is primarily manned by volunteers.
Beginning on Friday, July 2nd, 2010, dozens of merchants and food vendors lined the streets and grounds surrounding the old Courthouse located on Provo Center Street & University Parkway. Hundreds of thousands shuffled through the booths looking, laughing, and buying. One very popular attraction were the Seway rides sponsored by Segway of Utah.
This is one of Utah County's premier celebrations and I highly recommend that you attend, if at all possible.
